Ancient Wisdom Productions is pleased to announce the launch of Sextalk.org (www.sextalk.org), the newly redesigned website for teens developed by Planned Parenthood of the Southern Finger Lakes (PPSFL). For the past four years the award winning Sextalk.org has provided teens with important sexuality and sexual health information in a lighthearted and fun format. How many websites feature a talking speculum named Spekie, after all?
Viewers should note, that the address is sextalk.org, not sextalk.com…which brings you to the sort of site you thought we were talking about before you realized Sextalk was the kind of sex-ed site you’d want your teens to visit!
The newly minted Sextalk.org comes on the heals of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s launch of the new PPFA web portal (www.ppfa.org/pp2/portal). The portal does a very good job of allowing each local Planned Parenthood organization create their own web presence (see PPSFL’s at www.ppfa.org/pp2/ppsfl). But PPSFL wanted to make sure they also had a locally-focused site for teens that would support their education-oriented outreach efforts. One of the principal challenges for a small organization running two information oriented websites, is how to keep them fresh, interesting and up-to-date without keeling over.
The new website builds on Sextalk’s past success by updating its design and adding dynamic content powered by an integrated suite of WebTools™ developed by Ancient Wisdom. These tools allow PPSFL to update the website’s content easily themselves without having to bother with HTML or cumbersome WYSIWYG webpage editors. They include the Links Manager to update their links page, the Survey Manager to conduct multiple choice surveys online, and the Booknook Manager that enables PPSFL to list books they want to recommend to their visitors. Another tool, the Users Manager, allows PPSFL to set up their employees as site administrators with a prescribed set of rights and responsibilities. A Tasks Manager allows administrative users to schedule and assign website maintenance tasks in order to distribute the work of maintaining the site effectively.
The benefit of all of these improvements for visitors is an enhanced website browsing experience, featuring fresh and timely content. Periodic surveys will also help Planned Parenthood hear from their visitors regularly.
