The website for the Cornell Program in Virology was in need of a fresh, updated look. As the Spring term at Cornell was fast approaching, program director, Colin Parrish, was becoming concerned over the image being projected by the site to prospective graduate students. Already familiar with the work we had done for the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell, Colin was confident that we could refresh the image of the Cornell Virology Program with a site redesign.

The challenge for us as designers was to create a fresh and distinct web presence for the Virology program while still preserving key elements of the Cornell look. Did we pull it off? We think the website’s before and after speak for themselves!

Ancient Wisdom was pleased to have the opportunity to work with Kelly Moreland of Mama Goose on her business’s very first website, MamaGooseIthaca.com, which was launched this December.

Offering “gently-used children’s clothing and other stuff mamas need”, Mama Goose is a well-known shopping hot spot for mamas (and papas!) of Ithaca, NY looking for a good bargain on quality children’s merchandise. The store has also developed a strong reputation for its social responsibility in business, having recently received the Jeff Furman Award For Social Responsibility from the AFCU for its commitment to women’s work and its promotion of reuse.

In designing a website for her business, Kelly’s primary goal was to reach a wider audience of potential customers. She also wanted to provide a way for her customers to join the Mama Goose email list online to receive coupons and store updates. Finally, Kelly wanted to highlight the various new products she carries in her store.

Not only did the site we designed for Kelly meet each of her immediate business needs, but it also helped move Mama Goose’s existing visual identity into a more colorful and welcoming direction.

We were fortunate to have the chance to work with decorative artist Denise Rusoff from the ground up on the branding, print marketing, and web design for her high-end, custom mural business, Maui Murals.

Although Denise had already developed an excellent word-of-mouth reputation for the fine quality of her work, she was ready to take the Maui Murals identity to the next level in order to attract a broader network of her target clientele. A complete branding for Maui Murals would do the trick, and a new website would certainly help Denise get her rich portfolio of work better exposure.

The process of discovery with Denise was a fruitful one. Creative and discerning herself, Denise freely collaborated with our design team throughout this process to make sure that her logo, business cards, and website would all reflect her own creative vision for Maui Murals. In the end, Denise was a very satisfied client (and a pleasure to work with!)

Leo Sanders of Tough Pups and Pampered Princesses built his entire business plan around the high-end e-commerce store of doggie couture that we built and branded just for him. Children’s author Ellen Potter wanted a fun, informative website that she could update herself. As a published author, it was also important to Ellen that her website design be well-integrated with the visual identity already established by her publisher’s book cover art. The site we designed for Ellen is not only beautiful, but it is an incredible promotional and informational tool that appeals to her young readers as well as their parents and teachers.
